Why I Have Affiliates

Hello reader! Chances are, you’re here because you followed a link from another page. It says “I may earn a small commission if you purchase products through the links here. Learn More“. It’s true. There is a chance I can earn a small commission when you buy something from Amazon, that I specifically link to. The products come at no additional cost to you and it helps support Mr. Amphibian.

Mr. Amphibian is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com

When I recommend a product, there is a link that will take you to Amazon where you can purchase the item. Should you choose to buy it, I will earn a small commission (on qualified items). You may be wondering how this is possible. Well, it’s because the link you click tells Amazon that I sent you to their website. That’s the basics of how it works. There is no additional cost or savings for you – the product won’t cost any more or less because of this.

So… why do I choose to use affiliates? The answer is fairly straightforward. I would like to earn back some of the money I spend on my hobby. All of my product reviews are 100% legit – I own each and every item you find in my buyer’s guides and it gets expensive! As an example, see my buyer’s guide for reptile/amphibian thermostats. I spent around $200 on the products alone, not including the countless hours of research, testing, and writing.

I buy and personally test the products in my buyer’s guides. If I link to a product on a non-buyers guide page, I most likely have that as well – or I will say I don’t. Another example: On my salamander’s feeding guide, I recommend using Rep-Cal’s Calcium and Vitamin powders. I’ve been using them for years and, as such, I think they’re great products! It’s not specifically a buyer’s guide but I still link to the products because I honestly do recommend them.

The purpose of this website is to guide new hobbyists in the right direction. Whether it’s a pet care guide or a buyer’s guide, I want you to be informed. I put a whole lot of work into this website and truly hope you find it valuable. The earnings generated by this website will hopefully pay for the hosting server, domain, the products I test and review, and maybe, just maybe, leave a little extra in my pockets.
